SESSION LIMITS

A "session limit" is the maximum number of clients that connect from one IP allowed by the server. That is to say, only a certain number of people can connect to atrum.org from one internet connection.

atrum.org allows a maximum of three connections from one IP at any time. If you attempt to bring on more than that, you will be disconnected from the server with a message that looks something like this:

-OperServ- The session limit for your host dsl-146-44-145.telkomadsl.co.za has been exceeded.
-
-OperServ- Please email admin@theforesters.net for more information about session limits.
-
Closing Link: blah2[dsl-146-44-145.telkomadsl.co.za] services.theforesters.net (OperServ (Session limit exceeded))

This means there are too many clients connecting from your IP, and the server is not allowing further connections.

If you receive this message, and you are connecting from a proxy or a GPRS connection, or you believe you are receiving this message in error, please email staff@atrum.org with a full log of the kill message.

It is possible for the admins to then set an exception on your IP, so you can connect more clients simultaneously.

If you are using a dialup connection ie. just your normal modem connection at home, we will NOT add exceptions for your host. If we did, we would be opening the network up to attacks by clone flooders (people who connect many clients from one IP and attempt to disrupt the chat).

If you are unsure of whether you are eligible for an exception, please email  staff@atrum.org  with all information.
